40 Days of Purpose at CPC
This is the spot to come for information about Central's participation
in 40 Days of Purpose. We'll be expanding and updating this each week with
powerful resources, calendar information, mailing lists and more.
Be sure to bookmark this page and check back often.
What is 40 Days of Purpose?
Together with hundreds of other churches around the country,
Central is starting an intense six-week spiritual journey that will answer
for each of us the question, "What on earth am I here for?" Between
Easter Sunday and June 1st, our church family and friends will focus
on God's five purposes for our lives, and we will seek to take steps
of growth in these essential areas.
Central's 40 Days occurred in 2003,
so, don't get your hopes up that it's happening now. We'll keep this info up
on the web though as a reference and resource to anyone reviewing the
material and as a resource for other churches going through 40 Days of
Purpose.
Enjoy! ~your friendly local webmaster
40 Days of Purpose at Central Presbyterian begins on Easter Sunday, April 20th
and concludes on Sunday, June 1st, 2003.
Make a Connection:
Get plugged into
a small group for the 6-week 40 Days of Purpose Bible Study.
- April 20: 1st Week's Theme: "What on earth am I here for?"
- April 27: 2nd Week's Theme: "You were planned for God's Pleasure (Worship)"
- May 4: 3rd Week's Theme: "You were formed for God's Family (Fellowship)"
- May 11: 4th Week's Theme: "You were created to become like Christ (Discipleship)"
- May 18: 5th Week's Theme: "You were shaped for serving God (Ministry)"
- May 25: 6th Week's Theme: "You were made for a Mission"
Have you ever wondered, "When a person becomes a Christian, why
doesn't God just take them on to heaven?" The answer is that God has an assignment
for each of us; you were made for a mission. What is that mission? You don't
have to speculate. Just as Jesus was leaving to go back to heaven, he left
clear instructions for each of us. Come next week and explore the only one
of the five purposes we can't do in heaven! Then check out all the ways our
church reaches out to our community and our world. Make it your personal
challenge to find a mission or outreach to try!
- June 1: Celebration Sunday, 5-7:30pm at Loch Raven High School
Our journey together through this Campaign has been marvelous. We
have seen our people getting plugged in through a variety of ways: they have
plugged into fellowship by joining a small group; they have plugged into service
by joining a ministry; and they have plugged into missions by trying an outreach!
What a joy it is to experience the Purpose Driven Life together. Next week we
take a look back and celebrate together the God-moments of this Campaign, then
we look forward to what God has in store for the future of Central Presbyterian
Church.

Next Week: Live the Purposes
Although the 40 Days of Purpose Campaign draws to a triumphant finish, let us
not lose our commitment to live out God's purposes in our lives. If you missed
memorizing all six of the weekly memory verses, memorize
the rest! If you still have some chapters in The Purpose Driven Life to
finish, keep on reading! If your small group has connected in a special way,
keep on meeting! If you signed up to serve in a ministry or a mission, get on
board! This Campaign will have true impact if we each choose to live God's
purposes every day from now on. Today is not an ending; it is the start of the
rest of the adventure!

My Story - What God is Doing in My Life Through 40 Days of Purpose
We'd love to hear how you have been impacted by learning God's purposes
for your life. If God is using your small group study, a scripture memory
verse, the daily readings in The Purpose-Driven Life book, the
weekend messages, or participating in a church ministry to make a
difference in your life, and pass it to us. For more info, blank forms
and to see other stories, see My Story.
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.
He will be like a tree planted by the Water that sends out its roots to the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries
in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
Jeremiah 17:7-8
