Membership Exploration Class

Membership at Central is not a Destination. It is a Doorway. It is not an end in itself, but a way to become part of a community of people committed to Jesus Christ, each other and the world.

The Membership Exploration Class is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the Christian life and Central Presbyterian Church. Whether you have been a leader in another church, or are just starting to explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ, you are welcome to join us, and will find the class to be both a challenge and an encouragement. The mission of Central Presbyterian Church is "Moving People Toward Christ" and that is what this class is designed to do.

The class is meant to give you a greater understanding of Christian discipleship as well as a layout of Central. This way you can take the greatest advantage of who we are and what we have to offer, both in terms of helping you grow in your Christian journey as well as finding places to serve others. In the class you will develop friendships with others as you learn together about what make Central distinctive, from its mission and core values to its significant ministries and staff.

The present format is as a one-day class. It will include 8 interactive sessions throughout the day that cover information about your relationship with Christ, Central's story and distinctives, ministry involvement and stewardship.

These sessions will help you commit not only to Central but also to your walk with God in a church setting. You'll see how Central also commits to you!

  • See NV: Discovering Central (course) for the new course offering that replaces the Membership Exploration Class.
  • Classes are generally held four times a year - winter, spring, summer and fall.

Registration is free and there is no obligation to join. Everyone who confesses Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is invited to join if they feel ready at the end of the class. Youth are invited and welcome.

You can register on your weekly worship pew card, or call the church office (410/823-6145). Walk-ins are always welcome as well. Free child care is provided, but you must pre-register your children before class.
