Site Design By...

Our website development team at Central Presbyterian Church currently consists of Jeff Wilkinson and a number of sermon proof-readers.

The history is that Pastor Jerry Cooper initiated the website project with Rob Smith and Jeff Wilkinson as a team in June 1996, with Karen McCaffrey joining us later. Through some of come and gone, Central's website team has continued to develop and maintain this site ever since as a hobby and as a personal ministry. (or some might say as a neurosis)

We also have to give huge thanks and credit to the many members of our staff and congregation who provide us with much of our content. A great deal of it comes from the news, articles and other writings prepared every week in the News & Views. Likewise, thanks go to our pastors and other speakers who constantly provide us with their excellent sermons and teaching. Special thanks go to our sermon transcriptionists and proof-readers who type up and edit the transcripts from sermon tapes.

Our lasting thanks go to former team members Rob Smith, Karen McCaffrey, and Rev. Jerry Cooper for their work, ideas and insights as the website was created, grew and continued.

By the way... Happy 10th Birthday to Central's Website!

Helping out... Joining the web team...

If you would like to help out, please contact Jeff. We could definitely use help in a number of areas and we could do some new things if we had help. If you don't know web development yet, we can do some training or we could put you to one of the tasks that doesn't require extensive knowledge of html or web development. Here are a few areas where we could use help:

  • someone to help edit/proof-read sermon transcripts
  • someone to convert sermon tapes to audio formats
  • someone to help track down ministry info updates (no html skills needed for this!)
  • moderators/answer people for discussion forums

Odds & Ends

We sometimes receive inquiries about our site and its development from other webmasters, and especially from church website developers. We've written a CPC Website Ministry FAQ that may be of use to other website teams.

Our primary design goals are to make this a website that provides current, accurate, in-depth information to our congregation and to the general internet population while being attractive, compatible, usable, navigable, maintainable and useful to these varied audiences.

We do not use "bleeding edge" technology since the function and goal is broad communication, not to show off technical skills. (though even a low-tech website takes skill to design well)

Comments, questions or job offers are always welcome.
