(Apr 8, 98) Stonework is proceeding on the 4 columns that will form the new main entry. Here's a close up shot of the stonework. The new stone was selected from the same quarry that the original building's stone was quarried. The architect chose this detail to help "tie" the buildings together in appearance. |
(Apr 8, 98) The south wall of the new building. The lower wall block is an architect selected combination of 3 kinds of colored concrete blocks. The openings are for doors and windows into the preschool classrooms. The upper level steel framing will support the roof structure. |
(Apr 8, 98) This shot shows the rear-left comer of the property (near the Summers house) and if you look closely you can see workman laying the colored "stone" for the small retaining wall in that area. |
(Apr 8, 98) Another shot of the steel framing that will support the roof systems and provide separation between the office area (upper level) and the entry or concourse level. The roof steel framing is scheduled to be erected beginning April 16th. |
(Apr 21, 98) The first roof joists were set in place the week of April 13th, partially enclosing the 2nd floor office and meeting room area. After the joists are all in place, steel decking will be welded in place. |
(Apr 29, 98) Custom made steel frame members are being set in place above what used to be called the "tower entrance". These members will be carefully cleaned and prepped to receive high gloss paint and will remain exposed. |
(Apr 29, 98) The south wall of the building has been closed in with "glass-rock", a fiberglass coated and reinforced exterior gypsum board panel. The masons are in the process of continuing the "split face" block up portions of the wall. |
(May 1, 98) The erection of the steel members above the Concourse area began today. When finished, roofing work can begin on all new roof areas. |
