Our Core Values

In 1998, our Session held three retreats in order to refine Central's vision and direction as we enter the next millennium. The second of these retreats led us to the development of our eleven core values. These are the non-negotiable areas of our life together that define who we are and how we choose to live as a church. These are the values that determine our priorities and inform our decisions. We hope these core values are clear to anyone who takes more than a quick look at our church.

  1. A Personal Relationship with Jesus as Savior, Lord, and God
  2. Commitment to the Truth of God's Revealed Word
  3. Worship as the Center of Church Life
  4. The Great Commission - Near and Far in Word and Deed
  5. A Biblical World View that Speaks to Our Culture
  6. Kingdom Vision - We are One Part of the Whole Body of Christ
  7. Growing Mature, Ministering Disciples
  8. A Diverse, Loving Community
  9. The Nurture of Children and Youth
  10. Servanthood & Stewardship Inside and Outside of Central
  11. Prayer

The Session have tried to describe the implications of each Core Value, i.e., ways these Core Values could be visible in the lives of our members. These implications have been highlighted over several Centinel issues. Think about how they are evident in your own life and how you can further pursue these values. Use them as starting points for discussions in small groups or times of fellowship.

Lastly, Ron has preached a sermon series on these core values. We have transcripts of those sermons available.
