All-Church Retreat

What will the future look like?
What does tomorrow hold?

It has been said that there are three kinds of people in the world: People who make things happen; People who watch things happen; and People who wonder, "What happened?" Together, we must choose which of these we will be.

Topic

This year's retreat will focus on our joining together as a church and taking the initiative to build our future. The word-picture of a barn-raising casts a vision of people coming together, young and old alike, each bringing their gifts, resources abilities and commitment to build something new - something that serves a purpose - something that will last.

The messages will focus on God's vision for the future of our church. We will explore ways to nurture our sense of community, mission and purpose. We will draw upon the strength of our intergenerational community and bring people together around our commitment to a shared sense of purpose. Our hope is that we will experience God together and catch a glimpse of the future He has in store for us, knowing that He "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine."

Our Speaker

Danny O'Brien, a forty-something friend of our congregation, was the former Baltimore Area Director for Young Life for eleven years and worked with Murray Smoot and others in our congregation from that vantage point. He is now the Vice-President of Operations for Senior Campus Living and has contact with both the OakCrest and Charlestown communities. He received his masters from Fuller Seminary and his MBA from Loyola. He has been married to Kathy for fifteen years and they have two sons, Conner (9) and Brendan (6 months). Danny and Kathy live in Timonium. He has been a frequent speaker at many retreats and has preached in several pulpits in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

bonfire We hope to fill Summit Lake and Middle Creek Manor facilities. Registration will begin in early March with candy for each registrant as incentive to register early! Additional incentives are special theme activities for children, teens, adults and seniors.

Aw shucks, we will even have a Hoe-Down on Saturday night, brought to you by Pohlhaus Productions... So, y'all come on over to the retreat now, ya hear?

So, Mark Your Calenders:
