Central Welcomes New Director of Student MinistriesPublished in the News & Views: December 11, 2005
"Action. Matt Action." Actually, it is Matt Acton but I can't resist filling in the missing 'i' because it has such a cool ring to it. Fortunately for Central's parents and teens Matt is not nearly as shallow as I am. Matt joins Central as the new Director of Student Ministries. He comes to us after spending four years as the youth pastor for a Presbyterian church in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Matt is not a complete stranger to Central, in fact, he met his wife, Maureen, when they were students at Loyola University and both attended the EPIC service. Matt and Maureen were active as leaders in Inter-Varsity (kudos to Kevin Hula and Kathy Smith for letting Matt know about the opening). The Acton's also have a two-year girl, and hope to settle in the Loch Raven Village area. Next Sunday, there will be an Open House in the Loft from 10:00 to 11:00 am, where students and parents alike will get the chance to greet the Acton's (no 'i') and welcome them to Central. Help us "pound" them, by bringing something to help them settle into their new home. If you have any questions, please drop Mike Henderson a line.
