Mission News: The Real Russia

Going out to serve In mid-July, the G-8 Summit was held in Russia giving people from the richest nations in the world an opportunity to discuss international issues. Putin enjoyed show-casing his country. In contrast to what the media projected, facts about the "real Russia" would reveal that 60% of the population live at or below poverty level. There are 1.2 million street children and 600,000 orphans within Russia.

Of those children, 40,000 live in Saint Petersburg where the G-8 meetings were held. At 17, orphaned youth are turned out to pursue life on their own. 90% end up as alcoholics, criminals or prostitutes. Please pray for the hundreds of Next Generation Christians who are ministering to those in Russian society labeled as worthless and for the 5,000 needy children who will attend evangelistic summer camps offered by Russian Ministries.

Mission News: Responding to War

Explosions are rattling the building which houses the SAT-7 Christian TV operation in Beirut. In the broadcasts to the Middle East, program producers are working hard to show the world how Christians respond to crisis. News reports are followed by examples of Christians helping those in need.

Beirut Baptist School is housing 500 homeless refugees who have fled the fighting in southern Lebanon. World Vision has opened warehouses and is shipping food across the country. SAT-7 staff and World Vision truck drivers are in constant danger because vehicles are targets for destruction as they navigate damaged roads. SAT-7 staff pray together each morning and ask people everywhere to pray for those who are suffering.
