NearWhile Baltimore City accounts for 12% of Maryland's total population, close to 50% of Maryland's living HIV and AIDS cases were residents of the city at the time of diagnosis. In 2004 data, MD has the 4th highest annual AIDS case report rate of any state, 26.1 cases per 100,000 population. & FarFive hundred people a day become infected with HIV and AIDS in Mozambique. According to the United Nations' AIDS office, data shows a dramatically worsening epidemic overall with rising infection levels in all regions. From 2002-2004, the estimated number of adults infected with HIV rose to 16% of the adult population, up from 14%. Life expectancy at birth has fallen to 38 years. | ||||
