Happy 10th Birthday to Central's Website!

Published in the News & Views: August , 2006

Jeff Did you know that Central's website is now ten years old? Yep, our first site went online in September 1996. We've grown a bit since then, and now offer over 366 sermon transcripts, 217 sermon MP3 (with podcasting), News & Views articles going back to 2001 and comprehensive information about Central's many activities and ministries.

And, during that decade, use of the internet has taken hold so firmly that now it is the first place people look for researching almost anything. As a result, we're finding that most newcomers to Central have found us or learned about us through the website. It's clear that it has become an indispensable tool for communication, both within our own community and beyond.

As we move into our 2nd decade of serving Central and the wider internet community, we have some plans for improvement and new capabilities, such as a site redesign, a content management system to allow more people to edit the site, discussion forums (to support community building by offering private online discussion areas for ministry teams and small groups), member-only areas and more.

Workin However, to do that anytime soon, our small team (1 webmaster + 3 sermon proof-readers) needs to grow a bit. So, if you have skills in website work, or are even willing to learn how to record and edit sermon audio, we can use your help. We're very flexible and can offer some training as necessary. Please consider and come talk to me about how your skills might fit with some of our needs.

Thanks!
Jeff Wilkinson, Webmaster
