One of the great joys I've had during the last few years here at Central has been working with the Alpha Course. It's been a place where I've developed some wonderful friendships, learned a lot about Jesus, and really seen first-hand how God works in people's lives. Alpha is a practical, introductory course on the Christian faith that takes place over ten Wednesday evenings this fall. Each night Alpha begins at 6:30 pm with a great dinner, followed by some fun and a joke. We listen to a thought-provoking talk on a topic related to the Christian faith (like "Who is Jesus?" or "How does God Guide Us?" or "Does God Still Heal Today?"). After the talk, guests break into smaller groups for some heartfelt conversation growing out of the talk or from questions that our guests want to throw out on the table. And we really encourage questions. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple to ask... or too hostile. One thing I love about the atmosphere is that it's informal and relaxed. Everyone is welcome to sign up, but it's a particularly great place to come if; you're curious about Jesus or want to investigate the Christian faith; or if you're a relatively new believer; or if you're just new to the church and trying to get connected. Or maybe you've been a Christian for a while, but you feel like you've missed something and want to brush up on the basics. It's also a wonderful place to bring a friend with whom you've been talking about Jesus -- a perfect forum to come together, where you don't have to drive a conversation or supply answers. So let me throw the invitation out to you. If you're looking for a chance to investigate the Christian faith or want to bring someone who is, we'd love to have you join us on the Alpha Course. It's relaxed, non-threatening, fun, and free.... and child care is provided. Alpha began last Wednesday, but it's not too late to sign up at the Welcome Center in the Concourse. The course runs through November. Got Questions?
