So You Want To Know More About Drama Ministry?

Published in the News & Views: September 15, 2002

We were hoping you might ask! Here's some answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Drama Ministry Team (DMT) - okay, so it's really the questions we hope you've been dying to ask us:

Just what is the DMT?
We're a group of people who want to use our creative gifts to serve God. We're hoping to do this by performing short sketches and dramatizations of Scripture as part of the regular worship services.
Why do you want to add drama to the worship services?
Let's face it - sometimes it's hard to "bridge" from our daily lives to listening to a sermon or understanding a Bible passage. Drama can help us across that "bridge."
Why else do you want to see drama in the services?
God created lots of different kinds of folks, with different gifts and learning styles. Like music and dance, drama can provide a different avenue for worship and receiving truth from God.
Do I have to have theater (or "Theatre" as the professionals would say!) experience to join the DMT?
Nope. We aren't professionals. In fact, you don't have to have ANY experience - you don't even have to be good at memorizing (we've got tricks to help with that)
Do I have to be a crazy extrovert like Kathy Smith & some of those other people we've seen do drama?
Not at all!!! Some of the best actors are introverts offstage. That's one of the awesome things about drama - you get to be someone else for awhile!
Now you've got us REALLY excited about the DMT - how do we get involved?
Just show up for the next meeting, September 26th at 7:30 pm in Covenant. Bring an open mind, open heart, and a willingness to serve! Or call Kathy Smith if you can't make it to the meeting.
