Pastor's Challenge
Published in the News & Views: March 7, 2004
Now, what's all this I wrote on the front
page about service and sacrifice?
Christmas Eve and Easter are two times in the year when hundreds of
people come to Central who do not join us in worship at other times.
Almost all of these people will come to the 10:00 or 11:30 Services on
Easter, simply because that is when people expect us to be worshipping.
So, if we are not careful, we will have no seats for dozens of people in
these two services. (On some weeks we have already seen people come into
the 11:30 service and leave because they have seen no open seats!) A
basic commitment we have as leaders is that we will do our utmost to
always have an open seat for our guests, so that they can hear the good
news about Jesus Christ.
To that end, we're asking you to plan ahead. On
Easter Sunday weekend we will be hosting 4 services. Two of the services
will be contemporary in style, and two will be traditional. We are
asking you to make a choice about which service you plan to attend.
Please give special consideration to attending the Sunday 8:15 am
(traditional) or Saturday 6:30 pm (contemporary) services.
When you decide, please go to the Concourse and pick up a "ticket" to
the worship service of your choice. Tickets will be available to
register for childcare also. Due to the size of our Sanctuary, there
will be a limited number of spaces available. Picking up this card
allows us to plan and warns us when we are going to exceed our seating
capacity. We would like all who regularly come to Central to pick up a
ticket before Easter weekend.
This schedule and these special arrangements are only for Easter
weekend. The following week, our schedule will return to normal. Please
consider your needs, as well as the needs of those who have never yet
come to Central. And I'm sure you will make your contribution towards
making this a weekend that pleases God!
