Mission News: Locations For LovePublished in the News & Views: March 28, 2004Yesterday, Peggy MacLeod, responding to the invitation of the Baltimore Chapter of Presbyterians Pro-Life, led a workshop at Central, teaching and equipping those who attended, about post-abortion ministry. PPL is committed to helping churches establish ministries that address the spiritual and emotional needs of men and women affected by abortion. To that end, all the churches in our presbytery were invited to send someone to be equipped in this important area of ministry, and several responded and embraced the opportunity. The mission of Presbyterians Pro-Life is to restore the Church's witness and ministry in response to questions about life... to examine the issues of life in the context of Christian faith. Believing in the sanctity of all human life, PPL stands against abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, and any other practice that would devalue human life. PPL is called to stand as a witness for life in the governing bodies of the church where policies are made. PPL also is called to support congregations by providing resources for the preaching, teaching, and pastoral care ministries of the local church. They have congregational resources for churches who want to reach out to women who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy; a resource packet called "God Gives Us Life Through Adoption" which focuses on how churches can highlight the blessing of adoption. You may remember the display at Central during November, National Adoption Month. They have a resource packet called "Pure Hearts-Pure Lives" for churches who want to teach Biblical sexuality and help their youth make a commitment to sexual purity. Their newest resource packet is called "Discovering Grace" and highlights opportunities for congregations to minister to women and men affected by abortion decisions and to all those who have lost children before birth. Each church that was represented at the workshop yesterday received this new packet. Please pray that the seeds of the ministry of grace planted at the workshop will grow and bear fruit for the kingdom. | ||||
