Deacons
DEACONS
“By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35, T-NIV)
The Deacons are a group of men and women nominated, elected and appointed by Central members. Our main calling is to reach out to people in Central’s congregation who are in challenging circumstances, and offer help in assessing their needs and working together to find solutions. Our purpose is to show God’s love and mercy by trying to help people out of difficult circumstances and to be facilitators of the work God is doing in their lives and through the congregation. We offer a ‘cold up of water’ in the name of Jesus Christ. (Matt. 10:42)
How can the Deacons help you? Church members and regular attendees can receive help in many ways. Here are a few examples: home communion, visits and prayer during a hospital stay or while homebound, meals delivered for a limited period of time, limited financial assistance, prayer, spiritual guidance and accountability, transportation assistance, networking assistance with other support services and organizations, and support to those in the congregation who are reaching out to others in challenging circumstances.
There are several ways you can get in touch with the Deacons - if you need assistance 1) call the church office (M-F 9am-5pm) 410-823-6145, 2) meet with the Deacon on Call on Sunday morning at the Connection Central Desk between services, or 3) send an e-mail to deacons@centralpc.org.
