CPC 2001 Annual Report:
Central PresybyterianChurch PreschoolWe continue to move children ages 2, 3, and 4 years old towards Christ in our Central Presbyterian Church Preschool. Our vision is to provide the young children in our community with a loving, Christ-centered environment where they may grow, learn and develop. Presently, there are 62 children enjoying our five classes (approximately 90% full). The preschool grew from 39 students to 62 students as well as increasing the number of classes from three to five. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 11:30 am in one of the four rooms in the preschool hallway and in room 107. The class for two-years old meets Tuesday and Thursday. There are two three-years old classes. One meets Tuesday and Thursday and the other meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There are also two four-years old classes. One meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and the other meets Monday through Friday. The two optional afternoon programs offered Monday through Friday by the preschool are PAL (Preschool Afternoon Lunch) and ASAP (A Special Afternoon for Preschoolers). PAL meets from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. At PAL children join friends by eating lunch together and then they have some additional social play. The ASAP children meet from 11:30 am - 3:00 pm and share lunch and social play with the PAL children until PAL dismissal at 1:00 pm. The ASAP children then continue the afternoon with a rest period then a time of enrichment learning about many interesting themes such as dinosaurs, books, transportation, space and bugs. The morning and afternoon classes have 2 qualified Christian teachers that provide a rich environment of learning meeting the emotional, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual needs of the children. The majority of the preschool families are from beyond these walls. Parents express excitement about the weekday preschool and have shared their high recommendation of our school with others. Parents continue to request movement towards a Kindergarten class. Some of our preschool families have attended Trunk 'n' Treat, the Advent fair, the Family Christmas Eve service, WOW as well as Sunday morning education programs and services. There are a few preschool families who regularly attend Central and some who have become members at Central. The preschool program offers a Christmas program, a Promotion program as well as Chapels throughout the year that families are invited to attend. A preschool picnic and an ice cream social are offered in the year for community building. The opportunities have been numerous for sharing the joy of a relationship with Jesus with the children of the preschool and their families. | |||
