CPC 2002 Annual Report:
Ministry UpdatesMinistry Empowerment TeamThe Ministry Empowerment Team (MET) is charged by our Session to interpret the standards of the church into real life ministry contexts so the leaders of the many Ministry Teams can implement them. Composed of staff and lay members, the MET has grown into its responsibility during the past year and has worked together closely through many changes in organization, staff and ministries. The approximately 32 major Ministry Teams and numerous sub-teams, working with both the Session and the MET, continue to carry out Central's mission of "Moving people toward Christ." New Ministry Teams continue to be developed to work on areas of our Mission Statement not fully covered. Ministry Covenants, outlining the individual Ministry Team's purpose, have been written, reviewed and approved by MET and Session. This continual process ensures that we are focused on our Mission. In November, the Session and MET brought all ministry team leaders together and reviewed our Mission, Core Values and Philosophy of Ministry and received feedback of what is needed to help each team accomplish its' part of the Mission Statement. There will probably be at least two of these follow-up meetings in 2003 since communication is critical for us to succeed in Christ's assignment for our Congregation. One of the primary functions of the MET is to help identify priority questions during the budget process to assist the Finance Committee and the Session in coming to a final budget for next year. This has been a learning process that helped focus the budget in line with the Mission of the Congregation. As we move into 2003, the Session has decided that the MET would best be composed of individuals responsible for the key elements of our Mission Statement (Inviting, Encouraging, Growing, and Sending). This change will give each ministry team assistance in areas of need in their individual ministries. 2003 will be an exciting year and full of opportunities for Central. The MET looks forward to serving the congregation. | |||
