CPC 2004 Annual Report:
Ministry Updates, page 1Central LightsThe Central Lights enjoyed ten varied programs during 2004. These programs were well-attended, averaging over 70 at each event. Those attending were not only 50+ Central members, but also many seniors from the community and other churches. One of the highlights of the year was our Mad Hatters' Luncheon in April. Our featured speakers, each wearing a special hat included Professor Good Vibes (aka Bob Smoes); Professor Open Mind (aka Dick Williams); Medicine Man ~ Dr. Feelgood, (aka Tom Smoot); Pastor Shepherd (aka John Schmidt); and Electrician ~ Mr. Illumination, (aka Joe Troch). Adult Christian EducationThis past year, the Adult Christian Education (ACE) team has focused on increasing the number of Sunday class offerings, particularly at different times. In February, 190 members of Central responded to a survey that showed that half had been involved in Sunday morning Bible study during the previous three months. ACE could not offer all the classes that interested adults, but did offer 8 classes on Sunday mornings this fall. In February, 81 adults said they had a lot of interest in studying the Bible book by book, 101 enrolled in three classes this fall, and 58 attended on an average Sunday. More people expressed interest in evangelism than doctrine, but more enrolled and attended the two doctrine classes than the one evangelism class. "I wish the class was bigger," said one of the average of 9 adults attending two 8:45 classes. "Jeanne Paynter was an excellent leader," wrote a member of the 10:00 Spiritual Design class. "I came out of a different theological background and want to continue to learn more about Reformed Theology," said a member of another of the four 10:00 classes attended by 77 adults on average. The two 11:15 classes drew an average of 29 adults. ACE is looking for additional teachers, particularly in the areas of family and evangelism. We hope to start a class at 12:45 if adults are interested. ![]() | |||
