CPC 2005 Annual Report:

Central Presbyterian Church Preschool

Linda Ferree & Melissa Garvin, Directors

Mark 10:14 Let the little children come to me. Central Presbyterian Church Preschool (CPCP) opened in 1999 soon after the completion of the previous construction campaign when the new preschool classrooms were built. We remember the vision of Rhonda Herman and others who obeyed God's call to use these rooms for a weekday school and not only on Sunday morning. CPCP serves over 85 children from the community with eight classes for two-year olds, three-year olds, four-year olds, and pre-kindergartners.

CPCP is committed to being part of Central's missional church. 39% of our current students are members or regular attenders here at Central. (20% of these families worship here because of their involvement with the preschool!) CPCP has a growing reputation in the community as an excellent preschool. It is our vision to provide a Christ-centered environment where children can develop and learn and be equipped for future education. CPCP is uniquely gifted with teachers and staff who love the Lord and look for opportunities to share this love with the students, through daily devotion times, chapel gatherings, and by being the hands and feet of Jesus to these dear children.

PIC (Parent Involvement Club), similar to PTA in elementary schools, is a group of parents who support the school community by investing their time, talents, and energy. PIC has a team of parents who organize and plan social gatherings each month to foster and build relationships between the preschool's families. They meet at a bookstore for a story time, or at Kenilworth mall to look at the train garden before Christmas, or at a playground for a picnic.

While CPCP has always been blessed with prayer warriors, a newly formed prayer team lifts the school's praises and concerns to the Lord daily. After the devastating earthquakes in the Gulf, CPCP is partnering with Pastor John's former church to provide books for a preschool in New Orleans which was destroyed. We hope to send enough books, (we have collected nearly 300 books to date), to re-stock their school and let the students feel the love of Christ through our students.
