CPC 2005 Annual Report:

"Share The Vision" Capital Campaign

Share the Vision Capital Campaign Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.
(Proverbs 19:20-22)

This first year of the Share the Vision campaign has been a season of listening to advice, accepting instruction, bringing our plans before the Lord and seeking his purpose in all we do. We are thankful for the generosity of our congregation. Since 2004, $1,880,000 has been received. Because of your great faithfulness, we were able to:

  • Hire Waldon-Scott Architects to incorporate congregational feedback into revised plans for the new building. Those drawings are expected to be complete in February.
  • Hire Henry Lewis as Construction Manager for the project. Henry Lewis is currently reviewing the building plans and looking for cost-saving opportunities.
  • Complete the site engineering, design, and permit documentation for the south side parking lot. We expect to break ground on the parking lot this spring.
  • Complete a soils study of the land adjacent to our current building. All indications are that we will be able to build a complete basement under the new worship space.

While the Building Committee continues to work on the physical plans, the Pastors, Program Staff, ministry leaders, and Elders continue to work on the ministry plans for the new building. As leaders, we have spent a great deal of time this year seeking out how these new facilities can further the Kingdom of God and make us more effective at reaching out beyond our walls. We believe that God will use this space by:

  • Increasing Capacity - Whether through watching visitors turn away from a crowded service, or our facilities not adequately supporting some new avenue of ministry, we sense that God is calling us to build for those we have not yet met, to invite a greater number of people from our neighborhood community into our community of faith, to use the life within our walls to strengthen their life outside these walls.
  • Increasing Visibility - New spaces will provide new opportunities to share our space with groups within the community, ministries within the community, as well as increased support for Central's existing ministries. Those opportunities will allow us to engage the local community in new ways and increase our visibility within the community.
  • Increasing Ministry - As we intentionally increase our capacity for ministry and increase our visibility within the community, we will be called to respond to a greater scope of needs within our community. As we seek to love God with all our heart, mind, and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves, we will be drawn into meeting the practical and spiritual needs of those around us.

This spring, we will be holding congregational-wide discussions about how to use these new facilities to further the mission God has called us to. We are excited about the opportunity to once again, listen to your advice as we all seek God's purpose together.
