CPC 1998 Annual Report:
Beyond These Walls...
...fulfilling our mission to equip for ministry!

Ministry

It's happening! We are called to glorify the Lord, and with great joy we did that at the dedication of the new building. Our mission is to equip and to serve. The new building is already helping us to fulfill our mission.

The new classrooms have provided the space for the new Adult Sunday School format, and attendance is up by fifty people to an all time high. Likewise, the new space is supporting the Children's and Youth Sunday Schools to record levels also.

Without the new space we could not have staged the recent "cross culture mission simulation." The new rooms are providing space for para-church programs such as Men's Bible Study Fellowship and Regeneration to expand their programs.

Sacrifice

It's happening! The Lord has provided abundantly and you have given sacrificially beyond expectations. In May 1996, the congregation pledged to give sacrificially over and beyond regular gifts and tithes, $1,942,000, in three years. As of the end of December 1998, total receipts to Beyond These Walls... are $2,315,162!

What's next?

We are now at the point where pledges and contributions reduce the $780,000 we borrowed for construction.

  • The fulfillment of the remaining original pledges will reduce the debt to $518,800
  • The fulfillment of the remaining Close the Gap pledges will further reduce the debt to $388,512--
  • And continuation of Beyond These Walls... gifts to November 2000, by even only one half of those not making Close the Gap pledges would reduce the debt to $204,900

We are within reach of our goals, being able to start Phase Two in the foreseeable future, and minimizing the burden of debt on our ministry. The Session is expected to address Phase Two timing in the near future.

Additional envelopes will be provided to those making Close the Gap pledges to cover the period after June 1999. Additional envelopes will also be available in the Concourse in the future for those additional members who want to continue their Beyond These Walls... gifts beyond the end of the campaign this Spring.
