CPC 1999 Annual Report:
Music Ministries

The Music Search Committee, chaired by Richard Ames-Ledbetter, has just announced the hiring of a new Director of Music Ministries, Alida Oosthuizen of Pretoria, South Africa. She has been trained as a classical organist at the University of Pretoria and has also had extensive experience in leading praise and worship music in a variety of settings. As she comes to Central, she will be responsible for the overall music program, will accompany the Chancel Choir, and will be a member and coordinator of the 8:30 Worship Team. We look forward to the vitality and leadership that she will bring to our music ministries.

The gifted Tom Brantigan who has been our organist and has won the hearts of the choir with his talent and personality, has stepped up to become Choir Director of the Chancel Choir. He recently conducted a wonderful holiday concert titled "Festival of Christmas Brass" which was done in conjunction with the Children's and Youth Music Program along with special musicians.

The talented instrumentalists and vocalists of the 8:30 Worship Team lead our contemporary service each Sunday morning. The Worship Team council, under the leadership of Doug Turner, meets monthly to oversee the 8:30 service and has drafted a Worship Team Charter. Instrumentalists, singers, and technical assistants are always needed and are welcome to volunteer as substitutes.

The Children's and Youth Music Program is blessed to have the capable leadership of Terry Eberhardt and Andrea Kefauver. They have divided the young people into two choirs: A Resounding Sound for grades 6 - 12 and A Joyful Noise for grades 1 - 5, meeting each Sunday in the Music Room at 5:00p and 6:00p respectively. The choirs participate in worship throughout the year and also have big plans to present a musical in the Spring of 2000, with the help of the Chancel Choir, the 8:30 Worship Team, and the Men's Quartet. Denise Simms is the administrative assistant.
