When looking at the history of an organization, believers look to see whether the shadow of the cross lies across the pages. We seek to see devotion and turning to the Lord, changed lives. We want to see God's promises fulfilled, to see guidance and enabling in challenging circumstances. We expect to see the presence of the living Lord Jesus Christ, as people love and follow Him. We anticipate sacrifices, joys, and overcoming obstacles. We need to see the Almighty God working in the lives of men and women, living ordinary lives with something extraordinary about them. The Centinel staff trusts that you see this as you read this special Jubilee Centinel.

Central's history over the last 50 years is sketched out in this issue. Here you will find history, stories, and facts about these years. We provide some snapshots of activities at Central, with some funny and some serious stories. Names mentioned in this issue represent real people, believers who poured energy into Central to make it God's temple and a hub of activity for Him, those no longer here are missed. So say a "Thank You!" to God for each one of, whether you know them or not!

One thing you will notice, if you are involved a church long enough, is that ideas come and go and come again. Ministries surface, fade away, and reappear. Youth groups thrive, shrink to nothing, and thrive again. We won't be able to touch on all of what God has brought about at Central over these 50 years, but we thank Him for His redemptive work in so many varied ways.

For many, this Centinel will bring back floods of memories, which we hope will bring a sense of gratitude and awe at what God has done. For others, this will be only history, but at the same time, we hope, a chronicle of Christ's walk based in Towson. Looking back on the path traveled is a chance to put the present in perspective and to see where God may be taking us. It is also a chance to be encouraged. Although there have been ups and downs in participation, crises of conflicting ideas, the death and dispersal of leaders, and the ever-changing culture, we know that God remains the same, yesterday, today, and forever!

We apologize for any errors of commission and omission. We know we have missed much. We thank all those who have contributed out of their memories for this issue. We invite you to submit corrections and additions which will appear in future Centinels.

Please read this issue with a grateful heart, with appreciation for what God is doing and for the redemptive life of Jesus Christ, and with excitement at the here and now and the future!
