Denominational Issues

PC (USA) Central Presbyterian Church, like most churches in the United States, is connected to a large group of congregations called a denomination. Our denomination is the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. (PCUSA). The PCUSA contains over 10,000 churches spread all across the nation and all across the theological spectrum. This diversity naturally creates times of stress and disagreement as well as possibilities of exciting cooperation in mission. As a strong evangelical congregation of the PCUSA, located in one of the most theologically liberal presbyteries (regional groupings of churches) in the nation, Central has been given a mission to be salt and light to our denomination. What you will find on this page are statements, speeches and other documents which have arisen because of specific issues or events in the PCUSA. Most of these will make basic sense on their own, but take on full meaning only when understood in the wider context of denominational life. The explanation of that is beyond the scope of this page at this time. In the meantime, we hope the following resources are a help and an encouragement.
