Central's Statement joining the Confessing Church Movement

Confessing Church Statement:

The session of Central Presbyterian Church of Baltimore, MD, meeting this 18th day of June, 2001, joins its voice with other faithful Christians throughout the Presbyterian Church (USA) in confessing:

1. That Jesus Christ is Lord and God and the only way of salvation for all people;

2. That the entire Bible, including the Old and New Testaments, is God's unique revealed Word and humanity's only infallible rule of faith and life; and

3. That we are called to live according to God's biblically revealed standards of holiness in every aspect of life by the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

We affirm that these are essential elements for any Christian individual, congregation or denomination to live in faithfulness to the head of the Church, Jesus Christ. We encourage other churches, sessions and denominational leaders to confess and live out these same truths in every aspect of our lives together in order that the peace, purity and unity of the Body of Christ may be preserved and strengthened, and that our one Lord and God may be glorified.
