The charismatic violinist Andréa Picard returns to Sundays at Central with pianist Irene Kim to present a splendid kaleidoscope of works . The violin-piano duo will bring the captivating energy of Romanian folk dances, the virtuosity of Schubert's Rondo Brillant, and the romantic lyricism of Strauss' sensational Violin Sonata. Also featured on the program is Karen Amrhein's Violin and Piano Sonata, described by music host and critic William Zagorski as an "expertly composed musical snapshot." Musical Rain

Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra

Come to hear Baltimore’s other orchestra, the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra.  This best-kept secret of the city dates back to 1924.  Most people in the U.S. never get to hear a mandolin orchestra—there are only 30 or so in the entire country—so this will be a unique musical experience.  The haunting, tinkling and the nostalgic tremolo of the mandolins have been aptly described as “musical rain” and “comfort food for the ears.”

“Lux Aeterna”  -- Morten Lauridsen

Chancel Choir, Organ,and Orchestra

The Chancel Choir along with orchestra and organ will present a concert of music celebrating light – and, of course, The Light of the World!  Featured in the program will be an incredibly beautiful piece, Lux Aeterna by composer Morten Lauridsen.  "The first recording of Lux Aeterna by the Los Angeles-based composer Morten Lauridsen demonstrates that it IS possible for important contemporary music to speak directly to the human heart. Composed in 1997 for the LA Master Chorale, Lux Aeterna is a rich, complex, intensely moving piece that people will be listening to for a long time to come."
