ServeFest... Living Proof of a Loving God
By Jim McClure
ServeFest was designed to be a one-day event to get your hands dirty and serve Baltimore County and the surrounding areas. Dozens of churches and organizations and hundreds of volunteers came together to make Baltimore better. From painting the main building of a social service agency for disabled people, to fixing up homes for elderly, to cleaning up parks, ServeFest was all about mobilizing great people to bless the communities we live in.
Regionally, ServeFest 2010 was a HUGE success! Volunteers from Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford County, Anne Arundel County, and Howard County all joined together to serve in many different ways. Through acts of compassion and care, God’s love was demonstrated in amazing ways.

Here are just a few reflections on the day.
“Wow! Where do I start to begin to thank you and your volunteers? I was blown away by all that happened with your people.” A Middle School Principal
“I chose Aigburth Vale for my family because it was close to my kids’ high school and we would be able to interact with the residents at the Senior Living Home. It was the perfect place for all of us. God was at work at our ServeFest site with the perfect weather the project that got done, and the relationships that were built. Praise be to our God who is in control !” Amy Davidson, Central
“Praise God everything went very smoothly at Rodgers Forge Elementary AND our prayers were answered for good weather on Saturday. It turned out to be the perfect project in scope, length of time and volunteers needed. We had people from 3 different churches. All enjoyed meeting new people and one person even praised God for making a new friend that morning. We also thanked God for using this opportunity to plant seeds of faith at the school and bringing God back into our schools.” Ann Hutson, Central
“Last night I couldn’t do much of anything. I was in awe of what happened on Saturday. It was unbelievable, over 100 volunteers working with disabled individuals. I couldn’t talk about it without crying. I have never been in a place and felt God’s presence more than there.” A ServeFest Leadership Team Member
ServeFest was an historic event in the Baltimore region where the Church joined together showing the ‘Oneness in Christ’ to our community. Many stories continue to be spoken about lives changed and relationships built. I am sure that God was pleased to see His children serving people and expressing His love.
