Nursery Coordinator Job Description
Department: Children’s Ministry
Reports to: Director of Children’s Ministry
Paid Hours: 15 hours per week; determined in consultation with DCM
General Purpose: To participate on a ministry team to help shape and direct Children’s Ministry and to provide oversight of the Nursery program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attends CM weekly staff meetings
- Meets 30 minutes weekly with DCM
- Recruits, interviews and schedules nursery volunteers
- Provides oversight for training of volunteers and for nursery operations on Sunday mornings
- Directs a Nursery team which provides leadership on Sunday mornings during both services (toddler teaching and the check-in/check-out process at the sign in desks) and does mid-week prep, cleaning and purchasing tasks (sets up and restocks the nurseries, calls volunteers to remind them it is their turn to serve, launders sheets, washes cups, prepares materials for toddler teaching, purchases necessary supplies)
- Address volunteer and children’s issues as they arise
- Supports children’s ministry programming with childcare as requested
- Works in conjunction with Administrative Assistant of Family Ministries with the recruitment, set-up of rooms and oversight of paid childcare for all-church events
- Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Call to ministry
- Degree or equivalent experience in a field such as early childhood, nursing or social work
- Satisfactory completion of background checks
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Leadership skills
- Heart for God and a teachable spirit
- Knowledge of developmental needs of infants and young children
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Parenting knowledge and skills
