Central Drama Ministry

Kathy Smith, Drama Ministry Coordinator

Drama ministry at Central is a small but growing team of people interested in using drama/visual arts to the glory of God. Currently, this takes several forms:

Worship Sketch Team - presenting short sketches in the 2 contemporary services. Sketches are used to help communicate God's truth, introduce a sermon topic, or help the congregation identify with the questions/tensions that will be addressed in sermons. We're always looking for more actors (especially those with little to no experience who don't consider themselves 'AC-TORS' but are teachable, love being in front of people, and want to give that desire to God). Writers also needed!

Special Events Drama - Currently this primarily takes the form of sketches at special church events (retreats, Women's Ministry events, Christmas plays, Children's Ministries). We would love to expand this part of the ministry to include coffeehouse nights and potentially full-length productions. Opportunities for invovlement range from short-term commitments by total amateurs to the need for experienced directors & actors, to behind the scenes jobs.

EPIC Multimedia Team - The MOsaic service seeks to communicate in new & relevant ways - and that includes the use of visual arts. In addition to drama sketches, this means dramatic readings of Scripture, movie clips, power point, slides, art - any visual medium you can dream up, we'd probably like to try it! Visual artists needed!
