Central Presbyterian Chancel Choir

Who is the Central Presbyterian Chancel Choir?

choir We are a group of Christians who love to sing God's praises. We also consider it to be a privilege to do so. We are really happy to have new members join us. We will become not simply co-workers, but friends and partners. We sing each Sunday at the 10 am service in praise to God and as an assist to the pastors during the service. We typically sing an introit (introductory call to worship), a confession response, an anthem, and a benediction response. We sing September through mid-June and take the summers off. We rehearse on Thursday nights from 7:30-9:30pm, with a break in the middle.

What Kind of Music do we Sing?

We love to sing in harmony, and most of our music has lots of it! We sing the spirituals that have inspired courage, and the early chants that have inspired awe. We sing the classics of choral literature, as well as pieces by 20th century and living composers, (some of whom we've even met!). We've sung from the Russian repertoire, the French repertoire, the Appalachian repertoire, the English cathedral tradition, and we've even tried Bernstein and Duke Ellington. From this diverse bouquet we search for what will best fit each service.

Who is welcome?

You! We'd love to have you join us in praising God through music. If you would like to speak to anyone about any aspect of the choir, please call one of us.
