Student Life Mission Camp

Mission Camp combines all of the energy of Student Life Camp with a mission assignment. In addition to experiencing Morning Celebration and Evening Worship, students on the Mission Camp track spend five hours each day ministering with their church group to the local community.

Local mission opportunities typically include ministry to the elderly/disabled, physical needs like food pantries and clothes closets, light construction and painting, and children's ministry. Since the first Mission Camp, students have contributed 114,000 hours of volunteer service to several hundred ministries and community organizations. Mission Camp students are able to make investments in the lives of those in the community while experiencing a quality camp environment.

FAQ's

Will my student be supervised?
Yes, Student Life asks that churches bring 1 adult for every 7 students for Mission Camp. While out on the mission work site, your student will serve alongside other youth and adults from your Church Group.
What does my student need to pack?
  • Bible
  • Closed-toe shoes (tennis shoes/work boots)
  • Work clothes (modest shirts and shorts)
  • Work gloves
A more exhaustive list of what to bring will be given to your Youth Minister in the spring.
In case of an emergency, whom do I call?
Your Youth Minister will receive a complete listing of emergency numbers prior to your student's week of camp. These numbers will include the Student Life local camp office, the Camp Director's cell phone, and the national Student Life office.
What can students expect?
When you arrive at camp, you'll have an interactive welcome and orientation session.

Each night you'll experience powerful, relevant worship that includes music, drama, video, and a speaker. You'll spend 10:00 to 3:00 each full day of camp at your work site with your Church Group serving others. (Lunch will be a boxed lunch on site.) You'll have a couple hours of free time each afternoon. In the evening you'll join your Family Group (made up of people from your church) for Bible Study. Finally, you can expect fun Late Nite activities several nights during the week.
