2001 DR Missions Trip:
Photos (2)

Our trip to the Dominican Republic was a stretching, eye-opening, giving, receiving worthwhile experience. Although we went ready to minister to the Dominicans, we returned with our lives enriched because of what they taught us about sacrificial unconditional love. We in America have so much materially but they are so rich spiritually. I do believe the "things" we have often keep us from seeing all God desires to teach us and do through us. Take a walk with us through these pictures and we will try to give you a glimpse of what we experienced.

After you view these, see the rest of our photos here and here.

Bible lesson through skits (the 2 pigs skit) - (24k)
One Bible lesson was a skit about 2 pigs and the foundations on which they built their houses. (The kids in the top part of the picture form the house, of course). The wise pig built his house on God's Word.

Skit about 5 orphans - (17k)
Another skit taught 5 orphans about God's unconditional love.
(Lori, Erin, Allison, Colleen, Julie).

Broken Heart skit - (17k)
Katie and Brandon act out the Broken Hearts skit in one of the villages.

Marty Hansell during VBS music - (21k)
Marty Hansell joins the children in praising God.

Blowing up 400 balloons - (28k)
To prepare for one of the game activities, we had to blow up 400 balloons.
(Marie, Teri, Lauren, Pam and Laura in front).

Pop the balloon - (29k)
The Dominicans had never played "pop the balloon" game.

VBS craft time - (31k)
Each day the children did crafts that tied in to the lesson.
Here they are gluing squares of colored napkins onto flower pots.

Decorating flower pots - (27k)
Linda Hansell is helping one of the girls with her pot.
They were so proud of their work.

Bill and Brandon rolling playdough for flower pots - (32k)
Brandon and Bill Pitts rolled playdoh into 380 balls to go in the pots to hold the artificial flowers. They got real good at that.

Beautiful flowers for beautiful girls - (28k)
Beautiful flowers for beautiful girls.
The pots reminded them to be fruitful and "bloom" for God.
