Our trip to the Dominican Republic was a stretching, eye-opening, giving,
receiving worthwhile experience. Although we went ready to minister to the
Dominicans, we returned with our lives enriched because of what they taught
us about sacrificial unconditional love. We in America have so much materially
but they are so rich spiritually. I do believe the "things" we have often keep
us from seeing all God desires to teach us and do through us. Take a walk
with us through these pictures and we will try to give you a glimpse of what
we experienced.
This shows the structure for classrooms to expand the school as it looked "before" we arrived.
Ken Duncan, Rick Barnes, Brandon and others helped put a roof on this
building. Although Dominicans are not as precise as Americans, it turned out great!
Marty Hansell spoke through an interpreter, using transparencies
in Spanish. Rick Barnes assisted in the Leadership Conference.
Imagine learning the compound ran out of water and you are hot, sticky
and dirty. Feel the refreshment as God sends a downpour of rain, enough to even
rinse shampoo out of the girls' hair. (Why did the guys think we were crazy?)
Bill Pitts and 2 precious Dominican children.
There are many large families in the DR. Here are 4 brothers.
The children loved to get their pictures taken.
We walked through part of the town of Pimentel. There were some very poor areas.
Neighbors visited and children played as we walked through the town.
