The Storm Student Ministries

Volunteering with Student Ministry

Change The World
Here's how YOU can be involved with
'the Storm' Student Ministries at Central.

Change the world?! Are you serious!? Well, perhaps you can't bring an end to world hunger, war or disease, but you can help change the world one or student at a time. We are living in a world today in which young people are crying out for authentic relationships. This is a need that we can, in Jesus' name, meet in the live of our teens, and you can be a part of it. One question that you can ask yourself - Do you care about teens and desire to see them reached for Christ? Then you can have a great ministry with young people! Following are some ways that you can be involved in the ministry with young people at Central Presbyterian Church. The involvement and commitment levels vary, but the reward is huge!

Program Volunteers (High involvement with students - high commitment)

One way in which you can play a part in the student ministry at Central is by being a program volunteer. A program volunteer commits to weekly involvement with the high school, middle school or small group programs. Program volunteers have the opportunity to show students they are loved simply by showing up each week. You can get involved in the teaching, games, small groups or just come to listen and build relationships than honor Christ. Program volunteers build ongoing relationships with students in which ministry can take place through all different levels of involvement. You will receive regular training and support from the director of student ministries through monthly training letters and yearly training events.

SWAT Volunteers (Varied involvement with students - limited commitment)

SWAT volunteers are called upon for special one-time events or happenings. From serving food at a Christmas party to driving on a small group scavenger hunt - these volunteers come into the program and get random things done. You can serve one -time or be choose to be called regularly.

Prayer Partners (Low involvement with students - high commitment)

No student ministry can succeed unless it is powered by prayer. People who commit to being prayer partners will pledge to pray daily and specifically for the success of Central's student ministry. Though prayer partners work "behind the scenes" in many ways, their support will be felt each time a young person hears the Gospel of Christ, each time an adult counsels a troubled teen and each time that anyone in this ministry makes an attempt to advance the Kingdom of God. Prayer partners will receive guidance from the student director about how he or she can pray each day for the young people and adults who are involved in the junior and senior high student programs. In addition, the student director will give regular updates about specific needs within the ministry as they arise.

Be Part of the Team!

Student ministry hinges upon two things: building relationships between kids, and building relationships with kids. If you feel that you may have the talents and desire to minister to a rewarding part of the life of Central, contact Matt Acton, Director. We'd love to talk with you about ways that you can serve on the ministry team and the different opportunities available.
