Serving the Body
SERVING THE BODY
I worship God by serving the Body of Christ.
I serve the body at CPC through the use of my spiritual gifts.
I give regularly and generously of my material resources.
“…For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function… We have different gifts, according to the grace given each of us“… Rom. 12:4-6 (TNIV)
Serving others deepens your relationship with God and people. Whether helping in a children’s class or greeting visitors, you will grow closer to the Lord, those you serve, and those who serve with you. Nothing compares to being on a team that laughs with, loves, and supports one another while helping others.
An important step on the way to becoming a more mature Christ-follower (what we call the Discipleship Path) is finding the unique gifts God gave you and using them to serve the body of Christ. This is also an important way to connect with others at Central.
Each step on this Discipleship path calls on the gifts and efforts of MANY people – staff, elders, deacons, members, visitors and other volunteers. There are several ways to find your gifts, and where YOU might be called to serve!
KNOWING GOD
Worship and personal spiritual development are at the first step on the Discipleship path. Here are some ways you might serve in these ministry areas:
Mosaic Contemporary
For our 9:00 and 10:45 contemporary service people serve in the Worship Band (vocal and instrumental), and as Sound Technicians, Projectionists, Lighting Technicians, and Ushers. A number of people are also involved in preparing materials used in the service including Graphic Designers, Videographers, and Video Editors. For a list of current, ministry opportunities in these areas, please contact Andy Gathman at andy@centralpc.org.
Traditional Worship
For our 10:45 traditional worship service, there are opportunities to serve in the Chancel Choir, handbell choir, or as a soloist. Please contact Tom Brantigan at tbrantigan@verizon.net.
GROWING IN FAITH
From infants to adults, Central has ministries at each stage of life focusing on helping us to grow in our faith in Jesus Christ. Whether it’s Children’s Ministry, Middle School or High School Student Ministries, Young Adult Ministry, Adult Ministries, Grow Groups or Care & Support Ministries the need for “laborers for the harvest” is always there. Click on any of these groups to learn more about how you might serve in these areas.
SERVING THE BODY
Here are some additional ways that you can serve the body that is Central Presbyterian Church by connecting new people to the body, helping those in our midst, and caring for our wonderful facility.
Connections Ministry
Central presents tremendous opportunities for people to develop relationships, grow and reach out to others. Sometimes, however, navigating those steps may require someone coming along side those wanting to know how to connect to the life of Central. Perhaps you would enjoy welcoming those that are new to Central, helping people at Connection Central, or assisting those that sign up to learn more about Central or want to join as members. Click to find out more about the various Connections Ministry’s programs.
For a list of ministry opportunities, please contact Cheryl Troxell, Connections Coordinator, cheryl@centralpc.org.
Deacons
The Diaconate, a group of men and women nominated, elected and appointed by Central members, reaches out to people in Central’s congregation who are in challenging circumstances, and offers help in assessing their needs and working together to find solutions.
Our purpose is to show God’s love and mercy by trying to help people out of difficult circumstances and to be facilitators of the work God is doing in their lives and through the congregation. Deacons coordinate prayer, rides, food, visits and other expressions of care for the Body. To find out how you can help please contact the Diaconate at deacons@centralpc.org.
Library
Central’s library is a valuable resource for each step on your journey. It provides books, magazines, and media to enhance Bible study, improve relationships, and encourage Christian growth in adults and children. It takes a team of volunteers to keep this great place humming! To help with this ministry contact: library@centralpc.com.
SHARING CHRIST with the WORLD
In addition to opportunities to serve the “body” that is Central Church, there are many opportunities to serve those outside our doors, in our neighborhood, our region and our world. Click to find out more about how you can be involved in Central’s Outreach Ministry.
