Read through the Bible in a Year

Let's Read Through the Bible This Year!

Read with a friend or family Why not join me in reading through the entire Bible this year. It only takes 15 minutes a day... and you will never be the same. There are some "Bible Reading Calendars" at the Welcome Center in the Concourse but I also encourage you to try the following resources. ~~ Ron Scates

  1. See our Lenten 40-Day Reading Schedule (New Testament) to read through the New Testament during Lent or the Lenten 40-Day Bible Reading Schedule (Gospels) version for reading through the Gospels during Lent.
  2. "Our Daily Bread" devotional, published by the Radio Bible Class Ministries, gives you daily reading that will take you through the entire scripture in 1 year as well as a daily devotional angle on a particular Scripture passage. This is what Ron Scates uses. To receive this monthly devotional write to: RBC Ministries, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49555. You can also read it online daily or order it online.
  3. If you'd rather listen than read, the New Testament is available through a ministry called Faith Comes By Hearing. Contact the office to find out the cost and to submit an order for the tapes.
  4. Read through a Lot of the Bible - Not up to the task of reading through the entire Bible this year - but you'd like to read a big chunk of it? Not to worry. There is a Bible reading calendar at the Welcome Center produced by the American Bible Society entitled, A Fresh Beginning, that will take you through much of the Bible in the new year. Something's better than nothing. The important thing is a daily time when you let God's word speak to your life.
  5. Bible Read-Through (or here), Use their reading schedules or design your own. With the Design A Plan tool, you can specify which books of the Bible to read, the order to read them in, and the length of time to complete the plan. Even allow others to read the plans you create as well. Do a custom Bible study on-line with your friends.
  6. Daily Bible by the National Bible Association has online reading schedules in several versions and in both english and spanish.
  7. Another way to listen to the Bible being read is at Audio-Bible. There you may listen to readings over the internet or you may order the tapes. King James Version only.
  8. The Bible Gateway has the Bible online in a number of different versions and languages in an easy-to-lookup design. They also have audio bibles in several languages and versions to let you listen as the Bible is read.
  9. Prefer to get your daily readings via email? Try subscribing to Fruits of the Vine, daily Bible reading plans and devotionals, or one of the many other similar services.
  10. See the reading plans and resources at Scripture Union.
  11. Some other online reading plans include:
    • Fruits of the Vine, Daily Bible Reading Plans and Devotionals via email.
    • Into Thy Word, reading schedules and many other learning resources.
    • Journey of Faith, a reading schedule by Campus Crusade
    • Bible-Reading.com
    • M'Cheyne reading system, featuring four different readings for use in both family and personal devotions. Each day has two passages from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, and one from either the Psalms or the Gospels. In one year, you read the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice.
  12. Church site webmasters can include daily readings in their own sites using a variety of services. Here are a few, though surely a search would find many more.
