Dear Central Family,
On September 4th Maryland entered Stage 3 of the Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery Plan. Here are the implications of Stage 3 for worship gatherings:
- Capacity limit increased from 50% to 75% at Retail Shops and Religious Services
- Stage 3 will be implemented in multiple phases with a flexible, community-based approach that empowers individual jurisdictions to make decisions regarding the timing of reopenings.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the safety and welfare of the congregation have been the first priority. We are protecting vulnerable people and ensuring the best health practices at off-site gatherings while following the direction of the state authorities. We recognize that there will always be a risk of people testing positive to COVID-19 and that our responsibility is to mitigate and contain that risk.
Central’s leadership and staff are actively working on a plan and timeframe to re-open the building for in-person worship and for facility use. This has been particularly challenging with the constantly changing landscape. More details about this plan will be communicated in the coming weeks.
I would like to encourage your continued participation with Sunday’s online worship services, Neighborhood Gatherings, and Groups. These are all great ways to connect with others. In addition, please join with the staff and leadership in praying and listening for God’s direction to safely re-open the building.
Peace to you,
