“Fund-raising is a very rich and beautiful activity. It is a confident, joyful, and hope-filled expression of ministry. In ministering to each other, each from the riches that he or she possesses, we work together for the full coming of God’s Kingdom.”
Henri Nouwen
Even with Central subsidizing a significant portion of Cuirim House (50%), there is still a cost to the trip for students and families that is substantial. One way to ease this burden is via fund-raising, or more specifically sending out support letters to friends and family.
Support Letters or Emails can serve multiple purposes. They can be letters informing friends and family members about the upcoming mission experience and ask them to support you spiritually by praying for you, the team, and the community.
They can also serve to invite those same friends and family members to support your trip via a monetary donation.
If you are preparing to fundraiser for Cuirim and are going to send support letters, here are a few things to consider:
Resources – On this page are links to various sites and organizations with suggestions and samples of support letters.
How People Give – There is a electronic form that people can use to give. There is a link as well as a QR code that you can download and share with the people. If people prefer to write to write a check, they should make it out to “Central Presbyterian Church” with “Cuirim House” in the memo line and attach a note that says your name.
Gratitude – Be sure to express gratitude when people support you. This can be a simple message of thanks, but should be followed up with a letter or email after the trip that shares about your experience and again expresses gratitude. If someone gives electronically, we will share their names with you as they come in.
