Friday Nights | 7:00-9:30 PM
Since the very beginning, God has said that it was not good for us to be alone. We were created to be in relationship with other people. We all feel a need to surround ourselves with a community (or squad). Many of us have a small, close-knit group of good friends… and this is good.
Our friends can have an impact on both the quality and direction of our life. Proverbs 13:20 says “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Good, healthy friendships can have a lasting and positive impact on us, but an unhealthy friendship can cause a lot of hurt and pain.
On Fridays at Whirlwind, we will be reflecting on our friendships and talking about the influence those friendships have on us and how they can affect our relationship with God.
Whirlwind is a great environment for Middle School students to connect with God. Below are some resources for the OTHER 6 days of the week.
How can you serve God through others today?
Make a list of all the ways you can serve and see how many you can do before the end of the day.
Find a quiet place and spend some time in silence.
Who are some of the people that God has put in your life?
Spend some time thanking God for them.
Choose one friend, one family member, and one person you don’t know well.
Pray for them. If you are bold enough, ask them for prayer requests.
Choose one of the passages below and read it through slowly two times.
Ask God what He wants you to take away from these verses. Read it one more time and write down or draw what comes to mind.
At the end of the day, ask yourself these questions…
- At what moments today did I feel most connected to God?
- At what moments did I feel most disconnected?
