What are the “marks of a disciple of Jesus”?  So often our answers to this question are behaviors: read the Bible, go to church, pray, give.  But these activities need to spring from internal change that only God can bring forth in us.  More primary than “what we do” is “who we are.  In Galatians 5:22-23, Paul lists out characteristics that he calls “the fruit of the Spirit.”  Fruit is an important image because fruit is what naturally emerges from a plant when the plant is healthy and growing.  In the same way, these characteristics are the natural expression of a life connected to Jesus.  In this series we will walk through the list of the fruit of the Spirit, and engage together during the fall in cultivating that fruit in our personal lives and life as a church.
