Blessings Poured Out at Central’s 10th Annual Clothing Giveaway

The 10th clothing giveaway at Central was nothing short of a celebration of generosity and community. Nearly 300 individuals came through the doors, each leaving not just with clothes, but with a renewed sense of hope. The impact was undeniable, as heartfelt stories poured in from those touched by the event.

Ann’s gratitude was heartwarming: “If you didn’t do this, my children wouldn’t have winter coats.”

Andrea reflected on the deeper meaning of the event: “This is such a blessing. I’m humbled that the people of God are offering practical help.”

Others echoed similar sentiments. Angela was overwhelmed by the quality and abundance of clothing: “This is such a blessing. God bless you.” Rubaya, a mother of two, noted that times are hard and said, “This means a lot to all of us.” Dupe, attending for the first time, marveled, “There are so many nice things here. It’s a blessing.”

Grace summed it up with a smile: “The sharing is so amazing. This event gets 5 stars.”

The stories continued. Mary, a mother of four, expressed how vital the event was to her family: “Times are hard, so this means so much to us.” Ryn, juggling school and family struggles, found joy in the perfect finds: “It means a lot to get clothes, especially ones that I like!”

Brett and Patty, foster parents to more than 100 children over the years, were deeply appreciative: “This is such a help to us.” And Susan, who works as a nanny, highlighted the event’s personal touches: “It’s overwhelming how much you do. The clothes are beautiful, so well-organized, and I even got a personalized omelet!”

Through tears, another woman told a volunteer that she was so thankful for the opportunity to get some clothes. Her husband is trying to get disability, and they have little money. She said she felt bad about the clothes she wore to work when others have nice things. She was so thankful to be able to have some new clothes, so she’s not wearing the same thing all the time.

Thanks to the dedication of Kim Meagher, Kathleen Nuetzel, and 80 incredible volunteers, the day unfolded seamlessly. These volunteers sorted clothes for weeks in advance, directed attendees, kept the clothes organized, served food, and connected with guests over a warm meal. The food itself was a highlight, with The Omelette Man catering made-to-order omelets that were an instant hit. Additional contributions came from THB Bagels, Stone Mill Bakery, Baltoz Bakery, and The Tradition Begins, with Central’s own members bringing in other treats to share.

Music filled the air as Josiah and Levi Sanderson performed in the courtyard during breakfast, joined by a singer from Philemon Ministry, a group supporting men transitioning back into the community from prison. Many Philemon volunteers regularly lend a hand at Central to give back for the support they’ve received from Central.

Reflecting on the event, Pastor Jeremy Sanderson remarked, “I’ve been involved in charitable events before where the connection between those serving and those being served felt distant. This event was different—it created an atmosphere of mutual sharing. It felt like a little slice of true community. I had a blast! Kudos to our leaders and volunteers who outdid themselves.”

In every corner of the event, from the carefully curated clothing displays to the music and shared meals, one thing was clear: this was more than a giveaway—it was a living example of what it means to care for one another, to give freely, and to build community. Central’s clothing drive was a day of blessings indeed.
