Central Presbyterian’s Deacons offer a variety of services to provide our congregation with compassionate care. One of their caring ministries is the Deacons’ Closet, which stores medical equipment and hand-knitted comforting prayer shawls.
Members of our congregation can borrow the medical equipment for short- or long-term needs, including wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, knee rovers, an Iceman (for efficiently icing joints post surgery), shower chairs, boots, canes, a sling, bathtub bar, wrist brace, aircast, knee brace, “wooden shoe” and a plasma flow.
You can borrow this equipment for a family member or friend by contacting the church office or a deacon. A deacon will make plans to meet you at the church to get the equipment or, in some cases, deliver it.
If you have an item you no longer need that you would like to donate for this ministry, contact the church office or a deacon.
Beyond medical equipment, the Deacon’s Closet also has prayer shawls knitted by Central members that you can give to someone who is sick or shut-in when you visit them. The shawls are a comforting reminder that, though someone may not be able to attend church in person, they are being held up in our prayers.
