When Ed Knight and his wife Pam moved from Richmond to Baltimore two years ago, they were excited to be closer to their son, Bryant, his wife Bonny, and their two granddaughters, Molly and Katie Gray. Bryant and Bonny, active members of Central, didn’t hesitate to invite Ed and Pam to join them at Central. For Ed, a lifelong Presbyterian, the invitation felt like coming home. The timing was perfect too—Central was reopening for in-person services after a long season of virtual worship due to the pandemic. With this fresh start came a renewed call to the congregation to contribute their time and talents to revitalize the church’s spaces and programs.
Ed is semi-retired from a career in interior painting and now chooses the painting projects he enjoys. He was eager to become involved in Central’s life. He now had some extra time and the talent of a painter. Last summer Ed painted the preschool classrooms at Central. He then noticed that the meeting rooms, hallways, and offices at Central needed a “refresh” to show the feeling of a well-loved church that was important to the members, staff, and visitors now coming into the building regularly. His offer to paint was greatly appreciated. He most recently painted the senior pastoral office in the paint color “Ocean Sphere” at the request of our new minister Pastor Jeremy Sanderson. It is a beautiful color!
Though Ed and Pam have deep roots in Virginia, with family still residing in Richmond, they’ve made Baltimore home. Ed particularly treasures time spent with his granddaughter Molly, with whom he shares a love for drawing. And when they need a break, Ed and Pam head to the Outer Banks, where they create new memories with family, surrounded by the calming rhythm of the ocean.
